Can you believe the beauty?!!
.
I got this picture in a recent databurst from a friend in the Maltese Government. Can you guess where it is?

(oops, apparently I can't edit comments. It's the heat, I swear.)

I'm pretty sure I can. :)

Gorgeous photo, thank you.

ETA: Halo! Small world. Whereabouts are you?

I don't know where it is, but I feel the sudden urge to pack and move, lock, stock, and book collection.

What is there about a landscape such as this that gives us the urge to sully it's beauty with our bootprints and hovels? Some sort of perverse nature worship, perhaps?

::starts checking websites for emigration info for New Zealand::

Ange-- I'm in the South Island, in Timaru. (TimVegas, to some :X) you?

Dr Z-- not sure exactly *where*-- I'll hazard a guess and say, somewhere by the ocean, ahahahaha :P

please, do tell :)

Halo: Currently being stifled with humidity in Palmerston North. Ick.

...I'm going to risk bonus points and suggest that's the Marlborough Sounds. :)

I know that picture's of New Zealand, but it looks so much like Scotland!!!

If you like landscape photography, you'll *love* this guy - http://www.colinprior.co.uk/

He mostly takes pictures of the Scottish Highlands, but every other year he releases a 'World's Wild Places' book and I think NZ often features :)

I'm sorry...I just love photography with a passion!

It's gorgeous. And not a sight I'm likely to see much, here in flat Florida.

that is beautiful!! *sucker for scenery photos* Looks prettier than Patagonia =D

and a random off topic thought...

*caz wonders if the little stuffed toy bunny from Sydney ;) made it back to Canada*

...New Zealand? It looks familiar anyhoo.

That said, it's still breathtaking.

Where? Best guess I can hazard is New Zealand, as has already been pointed out.

Have to agree it's a beautiful sight, and an area I've always wanted to visit. Now I have more incentive. *waves to ange*

A very nice picture, Dr. Z!

It looks like it came from one of the LOTR movies, so yeah, New Zealand. :D

That is a beautiful picture. There are not many places around here with a view like that where you do not see a house or two.

It's a beautiful picture, David. Thank you so very much for sharing it with us!

Looks suspiciously like Middle Earth.

Wherever it is, I'd like to visit. Possibly even a good enough reason to get in a helicopter to fly over and see it.

Wow, that's gorgeous!

I guessed some island, then I clicked on it and it says New Zealand.

Very beautiful. I haven't been there before. Which, for being military is strange!

Although, I think northwest Florida is prettier.

(Rose: Where is flatland Florida are you? With that description I'm guessing Central or Peninsular FL.)

Rose lives in Orlando not far from my mother. Every now and then, I descend upon them both and inflict trauma. Moo hoo ha ha.

That is a beautiful picture, David. Looks like the sort of place any of us would like to visit someday. Thanks for posting it!

no matter where it is from, it's absolutely beautiful! I wish I was there, hehe :D no chance to see something like this in Slovakia, duh... :(

Thanks for sharing the pic!

Oh my, that's stunning! I was originally planning on studying journalism there, but archaeology got to me first. :)

It's the north end of the Coromandel Peninsula, in New Zealand.

A Box of Jiffy Peanut Butter goes to all of you who can read file names (oops).
.
But no one, not even KIWIs! got the EXACT location...

windshieldbug, as Spubba said, I'm from Central Florida (Orlando or thereabouts). Though since the highest point in Florida is still under 400 feet above sea level, 'flatland Florida' pretty much covers...all of it. ;)

I've been to a lot of Florida; did school in the panhandle. Parts of NW Florida remind me of my home state, and used to make the geologists ecstatic, where Georgia clay met Florida sand. Heh.

In my defence, it all looks the same to me. Beach, hills, trees, sheep (or lack of, in this case), bright blue skies...it's all just so pretty, how am I supposed to tell the difference?

Also, I'm curious to know what my prize is. I've never had peanut butter from a box before. :)

Awww, New Zealand. I miss it like burning. Was there in 2003, traveling through both islands. Photos are here for anyone who cares to have a peek. Mostly LotR locations as we went on a bit of a hunt for them.

Dude, New Zealand. 'cause the filename says so. *teehee* 8)

Rose-

Lol, true, Florida is the flatest state. I think my house is about 30 feet above sealevel.

I love the Emerald coast, up here at the Air Force bases.

I haven't been to Orlando, but got to Tampa for a hockey game twice.

Wonderful picture, thanks for sharing!

And as far as Florida goes, you may be flat, but at least you're not far from ocean. Kansas is flat and has nothing worth seeing!

Grass...green grass! *jealous*
Here in Austin, there's only two colors of grass: Burnt-to-a-crisp yellow or dirt. ^_^;
