Danny Boy

Anyone going to be in Ireland this weekend? Yeah?... I'll see you there! Come on down to Cork and Warpcon ... The first trip of '09 has me jetting across the Atlantic to the emerald isle where my prose writing will get even more purple as I attempt to catch up with the linguistic acrobatics of a nation that has a lot to say. The Celtic Tiger, The Luck of the Irish, and all that Blarney. I'm really looking forward to it.
.
Thanks for all your kind words - I wasn't expecting my last post to be so sympathy evoking. And another shout out to the "unwillingly ice bound" Kimmel family. That sounded harrowing.
.
Sunny day - blue skies - snow's almost all gone. Hope you guys are keeping warm out there. Talk again soon...

Great that you visit Ireland. It's a beautiful island (I was there back in 2003) and the people are absolutely fantastic! Have a great time!

Hi David! I love reading your blog, but I've never commented before. I had to come out of the dark to say: yay Ireland! I lived in Dublin for 9 months last year and it's hands down my favorite place in the world. I wish I were still there so I could come see you! I hope you have a great time.

Take care,
Anne

Never made it to Cork, but visited the Western shores a couple times (Shannon area & Killarney).

Have a wonderful trip, and "safe home"!

Ack, don't talk about sun. I'm stuck under like six inches of snow and unpaved roads.
Anyway, Ireland is cool. I hope you travel safe and have fun as all cons should be

Ever since I got introduced to Kevin Barry's, I've wanted to go to Ireland. I hope the weather's good?

Danny Boy was written by an Englishman! Trufax, yo. :D

Cody Kimmels shouting warmly back. The ice episode has transmigrated into a fourth grade character in a new book who wears a backpack emblazoned with the letters WWZD (for What Would Zelenka Do). If the manuscript sells, no more Ramen for lunch.
Enjoy Ireland - you may encounter my Cody relatives. Don't tell them how to find me. And don't give them any money.
Peace out.

My brother and his pal went to Eire a few years back. They managed to be continually drunk for about two weeks. Being students they also managed not to wash themselves for the same period of time. Why do we have to get old and responsible??

I will wave to you from Scotland.

I lived in Ireland for 8 years, based in Galway where my father taught at the university and then getting my degree at Trinity in Dublin. Lovely, lovely country, great people, but enjoy the sun here, because odds are you won't see much of it over there. The first June we were in Galway, the total number of hours with no cloud cover, day AND night, for the entire month was 30.

I only got down to Cork once, on a school trip, so I have no recommendations other than have fun!

Safe journeys and have fun! Wish I could go, Ireland sounds intriguing. Too bad I'll be in Spain! Si! Espana! I get to get out of the Utah chill and the Bad Air that comes with winter in a valley surrounded by mountains.

Have a safe and fun trip and post lots of piccies when you get back.

Ireland would be so nice right about now. Sure would be warmer then here. We finally got above zero on Sunday and we have at least two more months of snow - almost always have a major snow storm during hocky tournaments in March.

Enjoy your first convention of 2009 and hope you get the chance to attend many more this year!

Hi David,

are you planning any more travels in Europe?
Post a note if you ever need a guide or transportation around Frankfurt, and all will be arranged...

btw, I just discovered your blog and love it. Hope you'll keep it up, even after those $x≤o¢s shelved Atlantis. Dr Z is special, but I'd love to learn more about your work.

Hi David,

I will be in UCC tomorrow, a few friends of mine (Stargate fans) are coming next weekend, (they originally wanted to come this weekend, but I couldn't get the time off). I hope you enjoy your trip in Ireland.

All the best

Jamie

LOL,
Oh, it's definitely warmer there than here! It's been as cold if not colder than it was when David did his Subway commercial - and I'm going outside being grumpy about how cold it is until I remember David's commerical and then I start laughing cause I'm all bundled up and still freezing while he made looking warm seem so easy and he wasn't wearing a coat!

Hey David, can't wait to meet you!! I'm here in UCC studying astrophysics and you're and inspiration to us all!! In Co. Clare we have a popular legend of a sunken town called Cillstifiann that reminds me of your atlantis. I intend to make a 6th season of your show investigating this, starring real astrophysists like yourself, but you'll have a more prominent role, not just "Mr Bad News". You should call in for an astrophysics lecture in the Kane Building (G7), tuesday morning at 11. We'd love to have you. Hope to see you out and the best of look with your stay here, Sláinte!!

I wish I'd known you'd be here before I agreed to go to a birthday party this weekend! Ah well, a couple of the lads from college are going so I'll hear all about it from them at least.

I hope you have a great time! I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome. Cork is a lovely city. Pity I don't get to visit it as often as I'd like.

Please come back again sometime soon! You could pop in to Dublin!

All the best at the con,

Niamh

I don't know if you remember talking to me and my friends on Friday night, cos you were probably talking to a lot of people that night, and you had some drink taken, but it was great chatting with you.

You're welcome back to Ireland anytime!
