Astro physicists for hire

Will work for Argand diagrams.
.
Saw Mr Hewlett last week. He's doing well. Also in Los Angeles. Getting off an exploding planet is easy, getting out of LA - not so much.
.
Looking forward to Creation con next week in Vancouver. They tell me that I'm going to be in the cabaret on Friday evening. Oh really? ...That should be interesting.
.
Speaking of interesting here's a great link if you have a spare hundred minutes and a high speed connection. Those channel Four people have got it going on! Hope they pull out of the financial mess. I hope we all do. Oh and one more: I'm going to see this for sure.

  1. David,
Thanks for the link to the movie. I have always meant to read the book and kept putting it off. Now I guess I'm gonna have to.
Have an enjoyable time at Creation con next week.
Thanks for all your hard work.

  2. I don't know about Argand diagrams, but how about unlimited coffee, chcolate brownies and some really cool pens?

  3. Oh, this is a fun one to see. Hope you're both finding loads of projects to attach yourselves to over there.

  5. Have a great time at the convention! Hope you'll share some pics and stories...or at least one of those things...

  6. Hey, matching blue shirts just like on Atlantis. Neat. :) Have fun at the convention!

  7. I'm been remiss following your blog. Haven't been on the PC and all my bookmarks are here, not the laptop. I will remedy that ASAP.

I do wish I could go to the Vancouver con. But I can't. Cry. I even have a passport!

  8. Finally, they admit you will be there. They don't list you in the cabaret (2 hrs of song & comedy) but in a cocktail reception later that night. And autograph and photo sessions.

    Enjoy!

  9. Oooh, so you like documentaries? Great. I make them. Well, sometimes.

Mostly I just watch them, too. Like tonight, in a local cinema - a very strange, funny and lovable story of some Bavarian musicians travelling South Africa and starting their own thigh-slapping cultural exchange.

Hope you have a great time at the convention. Even more I hope they pay you VERY well to be there. Seen their prices and wondered who on earth (and beyond) spends so much money on autographs and photos. :D

  10. Heh. "Would you buy a used car from these men?" Actually, I probably would. I have a feeling you guys could sell anything.

So they're finally going to release "Where the Wild Things Are"!? My flatmate worked catering on that, she kept telling me how amazing the monster costumes were, but they wouldn't allow any on-set photography, so she couldn't snap 'em for me. The working title of the film was "More Rice", for secrecy. Cute.

  11. The original dummy for WWTA was called 'Where the Wild Horses Are'. After completing it, Maurice came to the realization that he couldn't draw horses. He thought about what he could draw and decided on... Things. Wild Things, to be exact.
    And a classic was born.
    True story.

  12. Okay, I admit it, I had to look up what type of diagrams an Argand diagram was.....now I know why I ended up not being an engineer.

Nice pics. It's always fun to see you and some of the Atlantis buddies all together again! Interesting cactus pic!

LOL. You got to head to LA more often as it seems we get more blog updates when you are there!

Have fun at Creation. Just exactly what are you going to do for the Caberet? A little tap dancing maybe.......No matter what you do, it will be great!

Thanks for the links...should be intersting to check out if time ever permits!

  13. Ooo waw! Two charming Davids in one! :-)
That blue suits you immensely and especially imaginative is your green shirt (undoubtedly to indicate, which one of you two brilliant scientists is Zelenka! Am I right?) :-D

Have fun at the Creation con!
This weekend we also have a con in Praha - and I finaly can go there in my own SGA uniform. (More precisely: in my own BLUE uniform!) ;-)

  15. Thanks for the update and the photos!:)

Enjoy yourself at the con. I can't attend (sniff) so the multitude of fans who can't attend expect (okay, we're begging) you to post all about it here once it's all said and done. Cabaret, eh? Gonna dance? Sing? ;)

  17. It is probably just me but the Things looked like those from H.R. Pufnstuf ? I think I just dated myself. Enjoy the convention.

  18. Nice to see everyone still gets together. Oh, and your top photo - nice contrast of prickly pear and palm trees (we have those too here in AZ, plus saguaro!).

  19. See you next week, David! It will be nice to see you again - not in person, up-close-and-personal, since Wolf SG-10 in London. (Saw you on stage at D*C last Labor Day, though.)

I can't wait to see what you do for the cabaret, too. ;p

  21. Were the two of you auditioning for another remake of Miami Vice?

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

So, any chance you will make it to Gencon Indy? That's the furthest west this Virginia girl usually get in a typical year.

  23. I'm thrilled they're making a film version of WTWTA, I've seen the trailer about a dozen times since it was released. Spike Jonze and the Arcade Fire, two of my favourite things. I can't wait for it!

Argand diagrams... ha! I should put that on my CV too, and see if that helps. I'm still wondering how I passed university calculus. Scary stuff.

Thanks for the update, and I look forward to the con squee from Vancouver next weekend. :)

  24. At first glance, I thought you posted a silhouette of ballon figures and that you wrote "Asgard diagrams".

Of course I had to look up Argand diagrams. I still don't know what they are, I guess it's a math thing.

Thanks for the photos and keeping us up to date. Enjoy your time at the convention and tell us all about it.

  25. I'd hire yah. I need someone to put a sidewalk in. ;-p

  26. David

Thanks so much for the long day at the Atlantis set for photos -- it was fantastic to meet you. I also quite enjoyed your fanfic reading at the caberet -- purple prose never goes out of style, right? Right.

    Cheers,
    Kirsten

  27. I've been forgetting to check your blog! Bad Me! I'm glad to see you're keeping busy. Wish I could get to a convention some time but unfortunately they're never anywhere near me! As for the movie. You'll have to let us know what you thought. I'll be waiting for it on DVD...as a librarian this "book to movie" trend can be great or frustrating in equal measure. The book is great but this trailer looks NOTHING like the story from the book. Let me know!
